Environmental Portrait (and Mug Shot) Assignment

                                                                  Evette Sherlock     This is Evette, looking happy after loading the Embroidery to make another run of six garments for a customer. She does the Digitizing of the logos of the customers businesses or organizations so the machines knows which color of thread and the stitch pattern to recreate whatever logo to perfection. She been working for Shirt Circuit on Ninth St. in Corvallis, Oregon for over twenty years. I known Evette since we were little kids when we were neighbors on Powell St. back in the early Seventies. I also worked for Shirt Circuit for twenty-five years until my stroke back in 2018. Evette is an Indigenous American descendent of a daughter of Chieftain. She always has a smile on her face and makes people feel welcome whenever she is helping customers when they come in the store or call on the phone. His name is Obadiah Baird and he, along with wonderful staff, can help you find whatever book you might need to get through the long dark Winter nights.  There is always some new books to make room on the selves that to be displayed for us avid readers to take home and send us to some adventure, love story, or mystery to solve. Tyler Hicks War Photographer Presentation

                                                                   Tyler Hicks New York Time Staff          Photographer          The 54 year old Tyler Hicks was born in San Paulo,  Brazil on July 9, 1969. He went on to earn his B.A. in journalism at Boston University. Graduating in 1992. He worked as a photographer's assistant at a commercial studio. Then as a photographer at The Troy Daily. He became a staff photographer for The New York Times as a contract photographer in Kenya in 1999, photographing news stories in East and West Africa. Then after the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, he traveled to Afghanistan for the Times and arrived in Kabul as the Northern Alliance liberated the city from Taliban control. He returned to Afghanistan yearly until the US pull out last year.      In 2009, Tyler was a member of the team that won the Pulitzer Prize for International Reporting coverage of Afghanistan and Pakistan. He also received the Newspaper Photographer of the Year award from Pictu

"On the Job"

Paige going to the front of the Pegasus Gallery located at 312 NW Monroe in downtown Corvallis, OR to help a new customer with their framing or help them pick out an art piece to take home to hang on their wall. Paige Shumway the owner of Pegasus Frame Studio and Gallery putting the finishing touches on a unique framing job.

Saturday trip to Albany

The detail in this piece of artwork really intrigued me. Even though it's a close-up, this mouse drummer was only four inches tall.       I shot this picture with my phone while driving  south on Columbus Blvd on our way back to Corvallis after spending   time with my Father-in-law at the Mennonite Village one day only Art Show on Saturday October 7th, 2023.                                  The Art Show Consisted of residents of the Mennonite Villagers.
