THE INFORMATION YOU CONSUME
- What do you consider your THREE main sources of information? This can be a platform (e.g. Instagram, Facebook, TikTok) and/or media sources (e.g. New York Times, Fox News, Huffington Post). Why are these your "go-to" sources of information? Second, how reliable do you consider these sources, and WHY?
The three main sources of information are in this order:
YouTube- Pro Democracy channels
Google Chrome- Local Now( KEZI CHANNEL 9 out of Eugene)
Facebook- Groups like Corvallis Happenings
The main reason these are my "go-to" is mainly because I can access all of them on my phone. I have double-checked each source before I started relying on them
- Given what you know about or have learned about "fake news," "deep fakes" and misinformation ... how concerned are you about the information out there in the media ecosystem? How do you ensure that the information you take in is "accurate"? What steps, if any, do you take before passing along this information?
I'm very concerned with misinformation! You constantly have to see if it passes the "smell test". Remember to not rely on just one source to get your facts. I'm not a spring chicken anymore but people of my advanced age can be duped into believing some crazy shit because they don't question the source. You have to listen to your instinct and get other opinions. Question everything!
For all these questions, I'm looking for thoughtful, detailed answers and opinions that go well beyond yes-no-maybe and a single sentence. Let us know where you're coming from, using examples that illustrate your points. Thank you.
